What We Collect

Private journal entries: Stored on your device first. If you choose to enable backup, entries are saved to our secure servers — never read, never shared, never used to train anything. Public posts: Stored in our Supabase database (EU servers). Visible to other users as you intend. Deletable at any time. Profile information: Display name, bio, avatar — stored so you can access your profile across devices. AI conversations: Never stored. Exist only in your browser for the duration of the session. Text is sent to Anthropic to generate a response, then discarded.

Media Storage

Images and videos you choose to share publicly are stored securely on Cloudflare — a trusted global cloud. Your media is never used for advertising or shared with third parties.

What We Do Not Collect

Your location · device identifiers beyond a randomly generated user ID · biometric data · payment card details · any data about children · your private journal unless you choose to back it up.

How We Use Your Data

To provide the Service · maintain your account · improve the app through aggregated anonymised usage. We do not sell your data. We do not serve advertisements. We do not share your data with third parties except as required to provide the Service.

Data Retention

Active account data is retained while your account exists. On deletion, data is retained for 180 days per the DPDP Act 2023, then permanently erased.

Your Rights

Access · correct · delete · export your data at any time from Settings → Data. Contact support@getkala.app for requests.
